Experience

Helen holds over 15 years experience working as a registered mental health nurse in South Auckland. She spent five years working at a Holistic Health Centre in Auckland City while also running her own business ‘One Life’, offering business speaking, consulting and education about mental health and nutrition. Helen also is a guest lecturer at Auckland University where she lectures on nutrition and mental health. Helen is trained in Mindfulness for health practitioners, which is also a core part of her practice.

Passionate About

Helen’s belief is that to be truly well, the mind, body and spirit all need to be engaged. She has a strong passion for supporting and empowering people in their mental health journey, outside the conventional medical model of medication and talk therapy. Her focus includes nutrition and lifestyle medicine, alongside psychological techniques to enhance and support mental wellbeing, and encourage recovery from common mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Vibe

Helen is relaxed and approachable and suspects there is almost nothing that she hasn’t heard of when it comes to mental and physical health. “Whole” health is a good way to describe her approach – as she will be asking you about your gut health, spiritual health, physical health as well as your mental health. If you suffer from chronic low mood, anxiety or if all this mental health business is completely new and you don’t know where to start – a consultation will help put you on the right track.
